A slightly rough sea did not hinder the scientific staff of the GMC from conducting field activities at the Capo Carbonara MPA (Villasimius, Sardinia) during the first week of July.
The team performed underwater fish visual census in areas with varying levels of protection to gather data and assess the reserve effect of the MPA.
Meanwhile, investigations were conducted to determine sea urchin density and seaweed coverage, providing insights into the status of the benthic environment. Additionally, a PhD student from the University of Padua joined our researchers during the survey to collect samples for environmental DNA analysis.
