Project in a nutshell:
In sustainable fisheries, policies to protect/restore biodiversity and marine ecosystems must consider both Protected Marine Areas (AMP) and Sites of Community Importance (SIC). In this perspective, activities will be developed regarding (I) study and analysis propaedeutic to the installation of systems aimed at avoiding the accidental capture of holothurian in the Porto Torres area, in the Natura 2000 area of Asinara Island, (II) scientific research activities to assess the state of the marine ecosystem of Montecristo Island, Torre del Cerrano and Posidonieto-Barletta, pollution and the impact of fishing activities on local ecosystems and protected species; if necessary, actions will be taken to improve the management and conservation of marine biological resources. Increasing the environmental awareness of fishermen is crucial for the effective protection and restoration of marine biodiversity.
