Scientific interests in a nutshell:
I am interested in investigating the effect of multiple stressors (e.g. pollution, overfishing and climate change) on marine ecosystems functions and the ecosystem services that they provide to people. In this context, Marine Protected Areas (MPA’s) are an extremely powerful and useful tool to reduce anthropogenic impacts or to study their effect on marine ecosystems. MPA’s are also important to protect endangered species and through their enhancement, connectivity and networking (e.g. across the Mediterranean Sea) they can achieve great conservation objectives.
